# Complete W-9

- Explanation: This section provides instructions on how to complete and upload a W-9 form for drivers within the DOTDriverFiles system. The W-9 form is required to collect the driver’s taxpayer identification number and certify that they are not subject to backup withholding.
- How to Complete a W-9:
  1. Log in to the[DOTDriverFiles app](https://app.dotdriverfiles.com/login).
  2. From the Dashboard, click on “Drivers” in the left navigation bar.
  3. Select the driver for whom you need to complete the W-9 form.
  4. Click on the “Qualification Checklist” tab in the top navigation bar.
  5. In the Qualification Checklist, find the “Form W-9, Request for Taxpayer Identification Number and Certification” section and click “Complete Now.”
  6. You will see two buttons: “Send Form” and “View W9 Form.”
     - Send Form: Click this button to email a digital W-9 form to the driver using the email address provided on their application. The software will auto-fill the relevant information on the W-9 form.

1. The driver will be prompted to digitally sign the document. They will verify their identity using their cell phone, which will time and date stamp the W-9 form.

1. Once the W-9 form is signed and verified, the system will automatically mark the section as complete with a green checkmark.
